Collection of Sketches by Jean-Pierre Martinez
Stories to die for is a collection of 19 sketches that each explore, in their own way, the theme of death… but in a decidedly comic, biting, or absurd tone. From funerals to inheritances, from unexplained disappearances to mistaken identities, from reincarnation to double lives, death turns up everywhere — even where one least expects it: in a travel agency, a doctor’s office, or at the heart of a theatre audition.
By twisting dramatic or morbid situations with sharp-edged humour, Jean-Pierre Martinez offers a gallery of short plays where the tragic constantly flirts with the grotesque, and where dark comedy exposes the little flaws of the living: hypocrisy, selfishness, cowardice, opportunism — but also naïveté, tenderness, and nostalgia.
